Pilipino Workers’ Center

Pilipino Workers' Center was formed in 1997, based on the idea that all individuals deserve a high quality of life. This means that we are entitled to safe working conditions, living wages, decent living conditions, access to quality healthcare and basic human dignity.
We provide services and resources that help meet the immediate needs of Filipino workers and their families while organizing for long-term change. We also believe that the conditions of Filipino workers and the community here in Los Angeles are inseparably linked to the conditions in our homeland, the Philippines. Justice here includes justice there.
PWC also serves as a research institute that focuses on the latest data, statistics, and situation of Filipino workers and immigrants here in the United States, as well as a resource for information on the Philippines.
People's CORE strives to empower the community through organizing, alliance building, capacity building, and base building.
As an integral part of our work, People's CORE offers leadership development training to community residents to build up their knowledge and skills in order to advocate for their rights and welfare.
In this manner, People's CORE empowers the community by building the capacity of residents and promoting collective action through grassroots organizing.
People's CORE is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed by Asian Pacific Islander activists in 1996 to conduct grassroots organizing in the communities of Los Angeles and the South Bay.

People’s CORE

People's CORE's vision is the socio-economic-political empowerment of the people where self-sustaining, locally controlled communities provide housing, education, fulfilling employment with livable wages and justice for all.
Our mission is to organize, train, and mobilize the Asian Pacific Islander grassroots and general community in creating systemic change.

People's CORE strives to empower the community through organizing, alliance building, capacity building and base building.

For over 36 years, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), headquartered in multi-ethnic Historic Filipinotown, has served this neighborhood as well as the greater Los Angeles Filipino American community with mission-fueled passion and relatively little fanfare.

SIPA continues to provide health and human services as well as community economic development and arts/cultural programs to the now diverse, multi-ethnic youth and families residing in the area as well as Filipino Americans all over Los Angeles County.

FASGI is a non-profit neighborhood-based health and human care provider. Incorporated in 1981, FASGI has grown into one of the leading independent providers of health and social services for low-income underserved Filipino American families and others in Los Angeles County. From its inception, FASGI’s chartered mission has remained to empower the underserved through culturally-competent care, advocacy, social services, education, social action, research and leadership. During over two decades of providing culturally-competent social services, FASGI has helped prevent unnecessary or early institutionalization of thousands of underserved, low-income individuals, especially seniors.
