Pagbati at Pasasalamat
Mabuhay! Ikinalulugod naming ialay sa inyo mahal naming mambabasa ang ika-6 na labas ng taunang e-magasin na Liwanag at Dilim mula sa pagsusumikap ng mga mag-aaral at mga guro ng wika at kalinangang Filipino sa mga sumusunod na unibersidad: UC Berkeley, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, at UCLA.
Ang klaseng Filipino 6, ikalawang taon at huling kwarter ng intermedyang pag-aaral ng wikang Filipino ang namahala sa paglilimbag ng e-magasin. Sampu ang estudyante at bawat isa ay nag-ambag ng mga artikulo bukod sa mga sulating nagmula sa ibang paaralan. Ang mga Filipino Editor ay sina Megan Villamin at Stephanie Chua, at ang mga editor ng salin sa Ingles ay sina Billie Hassim at Ailene Ignacio. Sina Dinna Gonzales at Billie Hassim ang nagdisenyo ng banner at nag-lay-out ng buong site. Si Soyeon Kim ang technical consultant at nagsaayos ng kabuuang site. Nagpapasalamat din kami kina Alexander Ngaosi at Nico Chua na tumulong mag-edit at mag-upload ng mga files sa website ng Liwanag at Dilim.
Bukod sa mga dati nang lathalain, matutunghayan sa isyung ito ang bagong pitak ukol sa Pinansiya na mahusay na pinamahalaan ni Stephanie Chua bilang tugon sa krisis sa ekonomiyang dinaranas ngayon sa Estados Unidos, upang magtamo ng kaalaman ang mga mag-aaral sa pinansiyal na mga bagay. Inaasahan namin na kapupulutan din ninyo ito ng praktikal na impormasyon na makakatulong sa paggawa ng mga pampinansiyal na desisyon.
Pasasalamat kina Maria Josephine Barrios Le Blanc (UCB), Priscilla Ruedas (UCR), Atilio Alicio (UCSD at SDSU), na nagbahagi ng mga sinulat ng kanilang mga mag-aaral, kina Dr. Masanao Oue at Galileo Zafra (Research Institute for World Languages, Osaka University), Richard Atienza (University of Michigan), Edith Borbon (San Francisco State University), Julia Camagong (College of Mount Saint Vincent), at Dr. Teresita V. Ramos (University of Hawaii at Manoa and President, Consortium for the Advancement of Filipino) na sumuporta sa paglalathala at mga nagbahagi ukol sa kanilang pagtuturo ng wikang Filipino sa kani-kanilang institusyon. Welcome! We are pleased to offer you dear readers the 6th issue of the yearly e-magazine Liwanag at Dilim (Light and Darkness) from the students and teachers of Filipino language and literature from the following schools: UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, Research Institute for World Languages, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, and UCLA.
The Intermediate Filipino 6 class at UCLA, second year and last quarter of study of Filipino language managed the publication of the e-magazine. There were 10 students, and each one of them wrote articles, aside from the contributions from other schools. The Filipino editors were Megan Villamin and Stephanie Chua, and the editors of the English translations were Billie Hassim and Ailene Ignacio. Dinna Gonzales and Billie Hassim designed the banner and lay-out of the whole site. Soyeon Kim was our technical consultant and website developer. We would like to thank Alexander Ngaosi and Nico Chua who helped edit and upload files to the Liwanag at Dilim Website.
Aside from our regular offerings, this year’s issue includes a new feature on Finances under the able management and editorship of Stephanie Chua. The articles included were written in response to the current economic crisis in the United States with the hope that students may gain knowledge about financial matters. We hope that you may also find practical information that can help in making financial decisions.
