Ang Cebu ay kapwa makasaysayan at maganda. Ang Cebu ay nasa Visayas at napapaligiran ng 167 maliliit na isla, kasama na ang Mactan, Bantayan, Malapascua, Olango, at Camotes Islands. Binubuo ito ng mga limestone na talampas at mga kapatagan na may baybayin, may mga nakapaligid na burol at mga matatarik na bundok sa buong Cebu. May mga bundok dito na tumataas ng mga 1000 metro.
Bago nasakop ng mga Kastila ang Pilipinas, ang Cebu ay pinamumunuan ng iba’t ibang mga Datu kasama na si Lapu-Lapu na lider ng mga nakapatay kay Fernando Magallanes, ang namuno sa ekspedisyon na nagpatunay na bilog ang mundo. Islam ang pananampalataya ng mga tao sa isla. Gauyn pa man, nagtagumpay ang mga Kastila, sa pagbibinyag sa Katolisismo ng mga tao sa Cebu at ng buong Pilipinas. Sa katunayan, ang Cebu ang unang lugar sa Pilipinas na napuntahan ni Fernando Magallanes. At dito rin sa Mactan, Cebu nagapi ni Lapu-lapu si Magallanes, sa Labanan sa Mactan noong ika-27 ng Abril, 1521.
Ang Cebu ay isa sa pinakamaunlad na mga probinsiya sa Pilipinas. Noong 2007, ibinoto ang Cebu bilang “Seventh Best Island Destination in the Indian Ocean-Asia Region” sa Conde Nest Travel Magazine sa Reyno Unido. Tiyak na magugustuhan ninyo ang Cebu. Tara na!
